Life is easier than you think:
All you have to do is accept the impossible,
do without the indispensable,
bear the intolerable,
and be able to smile at anything.
The only graceful way to accept an insult is to ignore it
If you can't ignore it, top it.
If you cant top it, laugh at it.
If you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
(sung best by Joan Baez, words by Paul McCartney)
When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.
And when the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be. Yeah
There will be an answer, let it be.
And when the night is cloudy,
There is still a light that shines on me,
Shine on until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be,
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.
Live in the PresentOne day at a time |
A New Chance(Gertrude Ellgas) When doubts and fears are growing, Take each day as you find it, |
An Indian and three cowboys had been in the saddle since early morning. Toward sundown, the cowboys' conversation turned to the big dinner they'd eat when they got to town. Asked if he was hungry, however, the Indian replied simply, "No."
Finally reaching town, each rider ordered steak with all the trimmings. As the Indian wolfed down everything in sight, one of his cowboy friends remarked that only an hour ago he'd said he wasn't hungry.
The brave looked up from his plate. "No use to be hungry back there," he answered disdainfully. "No food."
There once was a king who offered a prize to the artist who would paint the best picture of peace. Many artists tried. The king looked at all the pictures, but there were only two he really liked and he had to choose between them.
One picture was of a calm lake. The lake was a perfect mirror, for peaceful towering mountains were all around it. Overhead was a blue sky with fluffy white clouds. All who saw the picture thought it was a perfect picture of peace.
The other picture had mountains, too. But these were rugged and bare. Above was an angry sky from which rain fell, and in which lightening played. Down the side of the mountain tumbled a foaming waterfall. This did not look peaceful at all. But when the king looked closely, he saw behind the waterfall a tiny bush growing in a crack in the rock. In the bush a mother bird had her nest. There in the midst of the rush of angry water, sat the mother bird on her nest.
The king chose the second picture as the winner. "Because," explained the king, "peace does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. Peace means to be in the midst of all those things and still be calm in your heart. That is the real meaning of peace."
