Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah I went hiking with Joe Spivey All the counselors hate the waiters Now I don't want this to scare ya |
Take me home, oh Muddah, Faddah Take me home, Dearest Fadduh, Darling Muddah Wait a minute...it stopped hailing |
(Eileen Melia Hession)
I know she'll love
the counselors,
And the kids she's going
to stay with,
The reason that I'm
crying so:
Now I'll have no one to
play with.

Each campfire lights anew |
And as the embers fade away |
Day is done, gone the sun,
From the lake, from the hills, from the sky;
All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.
Fading light, dims the sight,
And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright.
From afar, drawing nigh, falls the night.
Thanks and praise, for our days,
'Neath the sun, 'neath the stars, neath the sky;
As we go, this we know, God is nigh.
Sun has set, shadows come,
Time has fled, scouts must go to their beds
Always true to the promise that they made.
While the light fades from sight,
And the stars gleaming rays softly send,
To Thy hands we our souls, Lord, commend.
I made a pattern of the Daisy girls smock, laid it on the page at an angle and put photos on it. Get a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of nautical paper, cut a semi circle at the neck and round all the corners. It resembles the girls' smocks. I put "Daisy girl scouts" at the neck of the smock and a daisy flower sticker to dot the "I".
I'm doing a double page. I cut my own daisy out of card board using the circle cutter for the petals, had the girls bring in one small school photo, cut them into circles and put them in the center of the daisy. I make a small picket fence border, with a gate open. The layout will be a garden, I put each daisy between other flowers and make little 'mounds' of dirt around the stems, and the sun up in the corner. I'll make the other flowers because the stickers are too small. The stems of the daisies and flowers overlap each other but the photos and petals will be in clear view. Use different colored pens to write the name of each girl under the mound of dirt. At the top it will say 'Daisy Troop 908' and at the bottom it will say 'Daisies are made of love, kindness, compassion, and a bit of sunshine'.
If they're doing camping pictures, they could print the words to "Say Why" around the edge of a two-page spread. Use the wave borderline to make a banner at the top and have "Brownie Scouts '97-'98" as the headline. I've used the scallop borderline as humps on the bottom 1/3 of the page and printed in the inside of the humps "camps, hikes, service, crafts, outings etc. with the year in the middle scallop - then bullet journal things that were done in a three row column with stickers that go with the event and photos mounted above.
Could also use the circle or oval template in the center of the page and print the words to "Buddies and Pals" song in the middle with pics around it. Could be done with pictures if the leader has enough that are suitable.
If there are newspaper clippings for everyone, one side could be what they did during the year on the bottom with newspaper clipping on the top - she could have them photocopied for each one and they could pick which ones they enjoyed most.
They could do a "The Best Thing About Brownie Scouts is...with bullets (use stickers, but I'd get them to do their printing first, stickers last.)
You could get them to make their own "cookies" for a border...have pre-cut circles and they add stickers, or use a hole punch and trim at the top to make chocolate chips. Or they could layer three different colors for an Oreo effect.
A simple border could be for them to write the law or the promise on a borderline ruler line...or the motto and slogan for GS...or all the names of the girls and leaders in their troop...maybe even what they have done for the year, such as horseback riding, selling Girl Scout cookies, lock-in, Brownie event day. Their handwriting would be a great record of what they were personally like at that age!
For one layout at the bottom I used 3 tree die-cuts and cut 1 in half for either side of the page, with the other 2 placed wherever; and used the campfire sticker, and had two frogs roasting marshmallows with some hand drawn ants.
For a simple border have them draw a stick with twigs and draw two marshmallows near the top of the roasting stick.
Another idea could be to have them draw a sash (straight lines across the page), put their group name on the top of the sash and use pics cut in circles as badges.
Up here brownies do their opening around a toadstool. We pre-cut a toadstool for each of them for in the center of the
page and have the pics around it.
Or, have each of them trace their hand on paper (our motto is "lend a hand") and have them do their writing on it with pics around it.
My daughter is the leader of a daisy troop. Today we were looking at the new landscape die-cuts from the coordinator gifts. When I realized that the yellow dot garden die-cut was perfect for the album. We have been using nautical blue paper and blue ABC stickers. The flowers on the die cut are not daisies but it looks so cute. We put the die-cut at the bottom of a page (this is an 8x10 album so we cut one end off), mounted photos on the page with blue paper and put the Troop # ** at the top with blue ABC stickers. We cut a narrow strip off the bottom edge of the die-cut - partly because it is too wide for that size of page but also to have some paper to use elsewhere in the book. There is also the paper from the end piece and the top (stencil) part of the die-cut. The yellow dot paper looked so good that we want to use bits of it throughout the book. (Denny)

On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong,
and responsible for what
I say and do,
and to
respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place,
and to be a sister to every
Girl Scout.
Our girl scout troop bought a 12x12 album and are going to do one page for each girl and then start keeping pages for certain events, such as camp-outs. We're using troop funds to pay for it. It even helps to fulfill certain badge requirements.
My Daisy troop is doing the same thing, though they will require more assistance. We plan to put them in small groups and keep the pages simple. (Julie in INDY)
(This is a combined list for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and CampFire)
Also use names of kids in the Troop, individual badge names, places the troop visited, your counsel or area names, etc.
(much of this list was compiled by Jean Gifford - it is for free distribution only)

In my son's Cub Scout Book, I drew a curving line across the top of the page and used the zigzag ruler to cut out paper banners to hang from the line. I put a sticker letter on each banner! (Donna d)
