Fran (Craig) Sandwith

Info as of 2015 After high school Fran graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelors Degree in French. She got to tour France the summer after her freshman year. She worked as a social worker in Kansas City for a short time until marrying Jim Sandwith and moving to California.
Fran is now retired after 35 years working in and then supervising a residence facility for the California DOT that houses snow removal operators and training conferences. She loved it but loves retirement more.
Fran lives in Soda Springs, CA. Her two children, Belle Starr and Jesse James (she said the 60's were hard on her), live nearby. She was widowed in 2010 after almost 40 years of marriage.
Fran had a knee replacement that allowed her to climb the 80 steps to the Acropolis last year. In addition to travel, she enjoys volunteering, gardening and her dogs. Singing is still her greatest joy (besides family and dogs). For more than ten years she has sung in a 50-voice community chorus and a women's barbershop group.
She cherishes every moment she spends in her mountain home with her three dogs and a garden. The biggest challenge is the drought.

High School Memories
(written in 2015) "As for a cherished GHS memory, I often think about driving around the North Lake ad nauseam, and the mischief involving burger buns at the Burgerteria. But I mostly remember the warm camaraderie of a bunch of naive high school kids preparing for an unknown future. But, thanks to a nurturing community, the future was bright and beckoning. That is priceless and increasingly rare, I think."
