2022 update from Janis "Greetings from Brooksville, Florida, moved here 3/17/20 after My husband Ray died. Started out in a two bedroom apartment in Bradenton Florida but wanted to be closer to my two younger children so I bought a mobile home in a large park for us older folks in Brooksville, Florida. There is a lot to do here dances and dinners once a month, lots of clubs to belong to and meetings to go to, very hard to get bored around here ,close to nice Shopping. I’m involved with a theater group, do a play once a year and have a Follies program following the play. I play dominoes with some ladies on Mondays and on Wednesdays. I play cards. I’m sure things are gonna get busier around here because they’re adding at least 170 new houses in this park within the next couple of years. I think I really chose the right place for me to be lots of widow ladies so we all have a story to tell. Looking forward to coming back to Garnett for the class reunion, hope I see a lot of my friends there."
Info as of 2015 Janis had three children from her first marriage. In 1988 she married Ray Hightower, who also had three children. They kept very busy with kids activities and now have more than a dozen grandchildren between them. They lived in Las Vegas for a number of years then moved to the southeastern part of the U.S. A few years ago a hurricane damaged their home and business so they moved back to Garnett, Kansas.
Janis was a banker for almost thirty years and then worked as a financial coordinator for an orthodontist. She currently works at the Anderson County Hospital in Garnett. Ray is retired.
