Judy 2022

2022 update Judy has taken the time to paint memories of the Osborn homestead and they will be displayed at he Garnett Library in the fall. Judy enjoys painting, crafts and sewing.
Info as of 2015 Judy married David Worrell in 1966. They lived in Germany and then Wichita before settling in Osawatomie on a farm in 1977. They had a large herd of cattle and lived there for eighteen years. Judy still misses farm life.
Judy has a degree in Special Education and worked for many years at Lake Mary as a para-educator, retiring from there in 2005. Since then Judy has worked at the Osawatomie State Hospital kitchen.
David and Judy had two daughters, Dawna and Susan, and two granddaughters and two grandsons.
Judy moved back to Garnett in 2012 to be near family. She enjoys sewing and designing things by making crafts and decorations, doing oil paintings, and road trips with family and friends.
Judy is thankful she got her father's sense of humor as it has helped her through rough times. Her favorite quote is: "Women are like tea bags. You never know how strong they are until you put them in hot water."
Judy was born January 4, 1947. She graduated from junior high with us and stayed at GHS through her junior year but graduated elsewhere. Her senior picture is below

High School Memories
(written in 2015) "Back in those days so long ago girls didn’t play basketball against other teams. We were allowed to play basketball against classmates between the boys basketball halftime. That was really a lot of fun.
I remember the day President Kennedy was killed. Principal and staff let school out early. I worried all the way home how I was going to explain to mom why they let me out early. After a couple of days, I realized how his death affected everyone in the world forever.
I always enjoyed getting dressed up for dress up day once a month. Everyone was on their best behavior because we didn’t want our special clothes messed up. Junior prom was a very fun and special night. Lots of decorations, music and fun with friends.
Math teacher George Wallace was one of my favorite teachers. His house had a gas leak and blew up. He
stayed in the hospital due to complications for a long time. I was a candy striper and would go to his room to visit. Biology teacher Jack Eden was another favorite. We learned a lot and no student slept in his class. If you slept, he would unlock his closet, take out his blank gun and walk behind the sleeping student to shoot the gun over his head. Students always stayed awake after that.
Junior year we served the seniors supper - a main course, salad and dessert. We wore white shirts, black skirts or slacks. It was a lot of work but fun. Can’t remember if it was for prom or another activity.
