Info as of 2015 Steve received a bachelor of social work degree from Pittsburg State University in 1971 and a masters in social work from the University of Kansas in 1975. He retired from public service in 2010.
Steve married Dee Ann in 1971. They have one daughter, two sons, and have been blessed with nine grandchildren.
Steve and Dee Ann live in a 1903 Victorian home in Erie, KS which he spends time restoring and maintaining. He enjoys golf and woodworking. He and Dee Ann have taken three cruises and plan to visit numerous landmarks in the United States.
