2024 update Sadly, Shirley's husband Larry passed away October 20, 2024. Here is some info from his obituary: Larry was born January 4, 1941, in Dedrick, MO... He attended one year of college at Pittsburg State University...Larry was a kind and caring man...He listened without judgment and loved unconditionally. He possessed an amazing sense of humor...He was a car enthusiast and sports fan who especially enjoyed cheering on the KC Chiefs. He enjoyed country music and was a talented musician who learned to play guitar when he was a young boy.
Larry settled in Lawrence in 1988 where we worked at Farmland Industries until he retired. He married Shirley Valentine on April 12, 1996, who survives of the home. Other survivors include 3 daughters, Debbra Peres; Sharri Hacker; Kassy Wynes; bonus daughters, Cathy Brittain, Christina Brittain, and Amanda Brittain; 12 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren

Info as of 2015 Shirley has worked in banking for 38 years, first as a teller and later as a supervisor. She now has the position she always wanted and has no plans to retire.
About twenty years ago Shirley met a man named Larry who makes her laugh and that she can be herself with. They are married and live in Lawrence, KS. Shirley has two daughters, Cathy and Christina, and eight amazing grandchildren. Larry has three daughters and three grandchildren.
Shirley gets together with life-long friends, Patsy Kilet and Ora Lee Chandler, once a year for a weekend. Shirley said she is not rich in money, she is rich in the way that really counts, with family and friends.
