I was named "Denise Davis" but called "Denny" most of the time. I legally changed my first name to Denny when I was adopted by my dad (Carl) in 1990. When I got divorced in 2004 I was happy to be Denny Davis again.
I lived with my grandparents in Garnett until I was three. From age three to twelve I lived on a farm east of Garnett (where Roger Adams now lives). We moved back to town when I started high school.
I got married a few months after graduation. We lived in Iola a few months and then in Garnett a couple of years before moving to Wichita. I have lived in and around Wichita since 1968 but still miss eastern Kansas.
My marriage never amounted to much but don't regret it (except that I should have walked away sooner) because I have two daughters, three granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren who are the highlights of my life.
I got an Associates Degree in Computer Information Systems from the Wichita Area Technical College in 2003 and a Bachelor of General Studies Degree (with a major emphasis in Computer Science and minor emphasis in psychology and sociology) from Wichita State University in 2004. I currently live in an apartment in west Wichita.
I worked at Dillons in 2004 and then at T-Mobile as a Customer Service Representative from 2005 until they out-sourced my job in 2011. I worked at H&R Block the next three tax seasons. I fully retired in April 2015. I have way more projects and plans than I could ever have time for but would rather it be that way than to be bored.
Dreams
(written in 2015) On each of my three granddaughters' first Earth Day I gave them a t-shirt that said "Please leave me a green and peaceful planet." They are all in college now and not much progress has been made in those areas. I will continue reusing, recycling, conserving water, signing petitions, writing to members of Congress and whatever else I can do toward the goal of leaving a better world for future generations.
